Woven demin sweatshirt with Radha

  • Studio Sessions 2924 College Avenue Berkeley, CA, 94705 United States (map)

Join Radha for this exclusive workshop where you will learn how to manipulate denim and weave it into a sweatshirt!

You will learn:

  • How to choose the right jeans for a project (and how to manage stretch jeans)

  • How to deconstruct jeans and turn them into usable shapes for sewing, quilting or other craft projects.

  • Basic tips, tricks and tools for sewing with upcycled jeans

  • How to weave denim into fleece to transform an old sweatshirt

The majority of the class will be done without machines. Each person will have space to deconstruct their jeans and lay out their sweatshirt.

This workshop is open to beginners but you must know how to operate a sewing machine or have basic hand sewing skills.

Rulers, pins, pencils, seam rippers, scissors, rotary cutters, mats, interfacing and backing fabric will be provided.
You will need to bring: a pair of jeans to deconstruct, and 1 sweatshirt or thick cotton shirt.
